What to expect during an irrigation audit.

We’ll arrive at your place and you’ll show us your irrigation timer and zones.

We’ll get to work flagging your sprinklers and setting up water catchment cups so we can see where your sprinklers are spraying and how much they are watering.

We record the water measurements from the catchment cups and any inefficiencies such as tilted sprinkler heads or overspray onto pavement for a report.

You receive a thorough report with the data collected from the audit, adjustments needed to increase efficiency, and a recommended watering schedule.

Get a rebate from your water provider. Send your irrigation audit report to your water provider if they are providing rebates.

FAQ

Reducing your water use helps preserve ecosystems by lessening the strain on water sources. Water is often thought of as an inexhaustible resource, since 70% of Earth’s surface is covered in it, but it is becoming a precious commodity.

Even in the PNW where it rains most of the year, water conservation is important. Our seasonal rainfall provides a temporary surplus that may not last thorough the dry summer season unless properly managed.

An irrigation inspection is a check that the system is working. Are there leaks, broken or clogged sprinkler heads, or other problems?

During an irrigation audit we are inspecting for efficiency. We also check for things like tilted sprinkler heads and over spray and make recommendations for adjustments that would improve your system’s efficiency.  Then we measure how much and how even the water is being applied and do some math to figure out how long and how frequently you should be watering.

Many cities and water providers offer grants or rebates on your water bill to encourage water efficiency. Check your utility bill or your city’s website for conservation programs. Make sure to read the fine print; pre-approval may be necessary so make sure to submit and application and make sure you qualify.

As much as 50 percent of the water we use outdoors is lost due to wind, evaporation, and runoff caused by inefficient irrigation methods and systems. A household with an automatic landscape irrigation system that isn’t properly maintained and operated can waste up to 25,000 gallons of water annually.

An irrigation audit will identify these irrigation system inefficiencies and make recommendations for system and watering schedule adjustments reducing water use and water bills.
